Self Grip Door Seal 21.5mm x 14.5mm
Our range of door seals offer the ideal solution to provide a watertight seal around any door or hatch. This product is a self grip door seal 21.5mm x 14.5mm. The U clip is easily pressed over the edge of the door and is held in place without adhesive due to the natural gripping force of the product. The steel core ensures that the seal holds it’s shape while offering added protection. Our door seals can be used in a wide variety of interior and exterior applications.
EPDM rubber strips are ideal for a variety of uses but are most commonly used in outdoor applications to block weather and moisture. This product also offers great resistance to most household chemicals and detergents, making it well suited for indoor use.
The self grip door seal 21.5mm x 14.5mm can be easily cut with scissors, allowing you to cut the strip to your desired size. It also offers great flexibility and can easily bend around tight corners or complex angles for sealing or blocking out elements in tight spaces. Tested in a variety of weather and temperature extremes ensures the durability of our product.
We offer self-gripping door seals in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. If you haven’t found what you are looking for you can view the full range here.
Ease of Function
Sealing profiles are a combination of sponge rubber profiles or a co-extrusion of solid and sponge rubber with metal inserts. These profiles have a dual function; they cover sharp or unfinished edges and also offer a sealing function. The sponge rubber tubes are extremely flexible and are suitable for sealing doors, hatches as well as numerous other applications.
Door seals simplify the waterproofing of doors and hatches. The door seal protectors consist of a U-shaped metal base, either a steel strip or wire carrier, jacketed with EPDM sponge or rubber. These guarantee a tight grip on the edge, even if radii or bends need cover. Press the door seal profiles onto the edge by hand or with a rubber or thermoplastic hammer. You do not require adhesive or special attachment aids, installation is simple and quick.
After installing our product it is important to ensure that the compression of the sponge part should not exceed a maximum of 50%. Exceeding this can greatly affect the overall compression and recovery of the product. An ideal compression rate should be between 30-40%, as this allows the product to return to it’s original state. If the sponge part of the profile has two sections then apply this value should to each section.
The crucial quality for sealing products is the enduring deformation. This essentially refers to how well the product recovers after you compress it at a specific temperature for a length of time. The most common characteristic is the compression set (DVR) ASTM D395. In order to determine this vale, the sponge part of the product is compressed by 25% and then stored at a set temperature for a predetermined period of time. After the product has been released and left at room temperature for 30 minutes, the height or width (depending on position) is measured and the enduring deformation can be identified. A DVR of 0 would indicate that the test body has reached its original height (unlikely in reality), a DVR of 100% shows that the test body has no recovery and would remain completely deformed.
This is important to note because as the sponge compresses it puts pressure on the seal. After an extended period of time the rubber can deform. If the DVR is too high the elasticity performance and sealing will decrease affecting the performance of the product.
